5 Reasons To Love Manitou Truck Mounted Forklifts

Imagine for a moment that you’re camping. You’ve hiked into your site with only what you could carry on your back. The sun is starting to sink toward the horizon, and you decide it’s time to build your campfire. So you collect whatever wood you can find and set to work. If you were car camping, you’d have a saw, an ax, firestarters, and any number of other creature comforts.

But out here, you only have your trusty multi-tool. And amazingly enough, that little jack-of-all-trades does the job. It peels bark for tinder. It saws off branches for fuel. It even has tweezers to pull a splinter from your thumb. It’s everything you need.

Manitou Truck Mounted Forklifts are a lot like that little multi-tool. They do many jobs in less than optimal places. And they’re small enough to carry to wherever you need them. So if you want to find out what makes Manitou Truck Mounted Forklifts so incredible, this article is for you.

What To Love About Manitou Truck Mounted Forklifts

Extreme Versatility

The Manitou TMT 55 series is built to be your one-stop-shop for piggyback forklifts. Its high traction wheels and anti-corrosion finish make it fit for most environments. It has the highest ground clearance in the market and can handle grades as steep as 52 degrees. It’s designed to be an all-terrain truck-mounted forklift that delivers no matter the site.

Increased Productivity

Your job site goes wherever the work takes you. And sometimes, that means little space for loading and unloading. Manitou truck mounted forklifts are designed to excel in tight spaces. Multi-directional steering allows them to move side to side as well as forward and back. This enables them to unload side-loading trailers in narrow corridors. And their 360-degree turning radius means they can easily maneuver around obstacles.

Most impressive is the telescopic boom. It has plenty of reach to unload the second row of pallets from your trailer. Gone are the days of having to stop loading to reposition the trailer. Plus, the boom features a side-shifter at the base. This allows the operator to make fine adjustments without repositioning the entire forklift.  Finally, the telescopic boom also gives the operator a greater range of visibility.  This improves both load efficiency and safety.

Small and Mighty

Manitou truck-mounted forklifts have the shortest overhang of any forklift. This allows them to maintain stability even when the boom extends to its full reach. They also have a compact, low-profile cab. This makes them excellent at navigating low overhead areas. Finally, their front stabilizers provide extra support during loading and unloading.

Safety Minded

Safety is the priority of every job site. With that in mind, the Manitou TMT 55 series has a full array of features to maximize safety. The closed frame cab includes a driver presence detector. The longitudinal stability indicator ensures load balance. All three drive wheels feature brakes. And the cab features an unobstructed field of vision, providing the best frontal visibility on the market.

No Hassle Handling

Manitou piggyback forklifts mount and dismount in under a minute. Their drive system and control levers are intuitive. Additionally, they feature multi-directional functions and a forward/reverse switch. This makes the TMT 55 series a no-fuss, easy-to-use forklift ready to show up and work.

Features at a Glance

Manitou Truck Mounted Forklifts boast the following additional features:

  • 5512 lbs maximum capacity
  • 52 in maximum outreach
  • 7 mph laden driving speed
  • Simplified upkeep and maintenance
  • All-wheel drive
  • Hydrostatic brakes and transmission
  • Operator comfort controls

Model Options

There are four available models in the TMT 55 series:

  • TMT 55 HT
  • TMT 55 HT 4W
  • TMT 55 XT
  • TMT 55 XT 4W

The HT and XT models differ in the amount of traction they provide. The HT models are the baseline traction models. But they still have enough traction to handle job sites without loading docks or paved roads. The XT models are all-terrain models designed to handle job sites without roads at all.

The 4W models feature the multi-directional steering option, allowing TMT models to maneuver sideways in tight areas. As a result, these models provide the most agility and excel in narrow loading zones.
