Game-Changing Storage and Equipment Solutions for the Memphis Tigers

Keeping up with football gear for more than 150 players, coaches, and staff is no small job. Now imagine trying to store that gear in a tight space, and then move it across practice fields, buildings, and facilities all day long. That was the challenge facing Marc Hohorst, Equipment Manager for the University of Memphis football program.

Hohorst knew he needed a better way to organize everything and a faster way to transport it.

Storage Problems Meet a Winning Solution

The Memphis Tigers football team is no stranger to national attention. Known for their performance in the American Athletic Conference and a fast-growing reputation across the country, the Tigers have also built a name for themselves with one-of-a-kind uniforms.

Each week, the team could wear a new combination of gear, including:

• 6 to 7 different jersey tops
• 3 to 4 styles of pants
• 6 to 8 helmet options

Now multiply that by more than 130 players, and you have an equipment management challenge that’s anything but ordinary.

To solve the space and organization issue, custom mobile shelving was installed. This flexible storage system condenses multiple rows of equipment into a much smaller footprint. The shelves move along a track system, allowing for quick, easy access while keeping everything protected and out of sight when not in use.

Hohorst shares:

“We found this system to be a real game changer for our busy program,” says Hohorst. “It allows us to keep up with our different uniform and equipment combinations much easier, as well as all of our practice gear. Each group of our team has their own section and it makes things so much faster to retrieve.”

He adds:

“I would definitely recommend this solution to anyone who has a lot to keep up with but is limited on space.”
